DIY Photo Safari #14: Go to Beacon

The City of Beacon - Home of the Dia Art Foundation’s Riggio Galleries. This museum houses one of the world’s best collections of major works of modern art. The exhibits are displayed in a 300,000 sq. foot historic printing

factory (previously a NABISCO factory!) within beautifully manicured grounds along the Hudson River. Several of the galleries are long-term exhibits of individual major artists designed in collaboration with the artists themselves. (http://www.diaart.org/sites/main/beacon). Beacon is just 80 minutes from Grand Central on the Metro North and MTA has partnered with Dia to offer discounted entry to the museum. (http://www.mta.info). Although photography is not permitted within in the museum, there is plenty of opportunity for architectural and landscape photography outside the museum grounds. Beacon is replete with great hikes for multiple levels of experience, which offer gorgeous landscape photo ops in the fall. (http://cityofbeacon.org)

The Central Park Photo Safari is a great way to prepare for this upstate adventure.
