Holiday Photo Boot Camp Holiday Workshop Photo

Join us for a holiday photo tour of New York City. This condensed bootcamp will give you the opportunity to take great holiday photos of Manhattan and enough time to enjoy the city and finish some shopping during this festive season. This 2.5 day session will start with a nuts and bolts session followed by a night session focused on the seasonal lighting and decorations for some truly memorable photographs. Day 2 will cover the iconic landmarks in midtown including Grand Central terminal, Times Square, Radio City Music Hall, the Empire State Building and much more. This time of year these iconic landmarks enjoy special holiday dressings, making for a spectacular photographic opportunity. Day Three will be a morning exploration of Central Park and its unique winter trappings. Photograph the city in full holiday swing! Please note that the weather in the North East can be cold during this time of year, please dress appropriately. (Limit 8 participants per safari; please no unregistered attendees)

Central Park walking tour -- NYC Photo Tour
Taking advantage of beautiful Central Park, this photography workshop focuses on how to take pictures of the environment (from cityscapes to landscapes). Learn the art of scouting for an image and visual editing. By the end of this photo tour you will learn how to take full advantage of your camera's capabilities and also learn how to compose your images to perfection. Not only will you leave with memories of Central Park you will also have skills for a lifetime.This photo tour meets at the Central Park East (May - September) or the Bethesda Fountain (October - April) to take full advantage of seasonal changes in foliage. This workshop is appropriate for all levels of photographic knowledge from beginners to advanced hobbyists. (limit 8 participants per safari)

Times Square Night Photo Tour - NYC Photo Safari

This safari takes place mostly at Times Square; you will better understand issues related to taking pictures in low light conditions (ie. night photography). You will learn how flash and long exposure works and how to use a combination of both long exposure and flash to create an image. You will also learn how to take great pictures WITHOUT using a flash. Although a DSLR is preferred, you may use any digital camera with manual overrides; you MUST bring a tripod. This Photo Safari is best suited for those who have a good understanding of f/stop, shutter speed and ISO relationships. It is strongly recommended that you take Nuts & Bolts offered prior to NYC After Dark as it covers this material. (limit 6 participants per safari).

Manhattan Photo Boot Camp - 3 day weekend photography workshop

NYC Pictures montageJoin the New York City Photo Safari team for an intensive three-day weekend photography workshop to photograph what makes New York City the Big Apple! This photography workshop is for photographers who are ready to get serious about understanding their camera settings, fine-tuning their composition skills, and improving their overall digital photography. Under the direction of photo pros you’ll photograph the most famous landmarks and icons of NYC.

Here's what can you expect on this three day weekend photo workshop: You'll start with a Nuts & Bolts session and move onto 5 daytime and 3 night time shooting sessions. You will photograph the Brooklyn Bridge during the day and at night, the Manhattan skyline at night from the Top of the Rock as well as from Brooklyn; you will also photograph the Flat Iron Building, the Empire State Building, Radio City Music Hall, Wall Street, the Municipal Building, Chinatown, Lower East Side, Grand Central Terminal, Rockefeller Center, the Chrysler Building, the New York Public Library, Bryant Park, Times Square at night, and the most famous locations of Central Park. You will photograph new and old buildings, taxi cabs and subways, and the people and places that represent the immigrant history of Manhattan (Chinatown and the Lower East Side). You will learn which lenses to choose depending on subject matter, how to use your flash, long exposure and much more. You can expect to be away from your hotel 12-13 hours each day and shooting 6-9 hours. You will walk 3 to 4 miles a day and shoot more than 250 pictures a day. It is a rigorous schedule with minimal down time, meant to make sure you leave NYC with amazing and memorable photos of the most spectacular icons in the city while learning how to do it on your own. You will be tired to the core, that’s why we are calling it the Manhattan Photo Boot Camp; but like all boot camps you will have plenty to show for your hard work. This is not for the faint of heart. This is a unique opportunity to not only photograph but experience NYC.

This photography workshop also includes an unlimited 1 week subway pass, ticket to the Top of the Rock, and tripod rental for 2 night safaris. The Chinatown session, Brooklyn Bridge at night and Top of the Rock at night are Photo Safaris only offered for this Boot Camp. Meals and accommodations not included. Museum Inside Out: This unique safari takes place inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Although there will be artwork to photograph, this safari is about the use of light. The amazing Metropolitan Museum of Art features many would-be outdoor spaces that are now encapsulated inside the building (the American Courtyard, the European Sculpture Court, etc.). These spaces are beautifully lit by huge skylights, offering a unique opportunity to photograph several diverse architectural elements all in one setting. These conditions also offer some photographic challenges such as shooting in mixed lighting conditions and so we will also address "white balance". Join us for this safari and learn about light. Iconic NYC Photo Safari ® (Part 1) - Iconic NYC Photo Safari (Part 1) - Join us on a fast paced Photo Safari to explore some of New York City's most iconic locations. Photograph *Rockefeller Center*, *Radio City Music Hall*, *Empire State Building*, and *Central Park*. We'll show you how to photograph these landmark locations while sharpening your photography skills. You'll learn how to work with lines and angles to bring these locations to life and you’ll even get an opportunity to photograph the skyline from Central Park. This is a very fast paced Photo Safari and will utilize the NYC Subway system; where you’ll have an opportunity to learn how to capture motion with the subway trains. Subway fare is included. This photography workshop is appropriate for all levels of photographic experience and is a great companion to Iconic NY P2 . NYC Photo Safari Local Events

NYC Local Photo Safaris are special photography workshops offered throughout the year. Each session will emphasize different photography skills and unique local events. These sessions are a great way to experience NYC like a local, especially because these sessions are led by locals too. As some of these sessions are based around events, dates won't be available until the actual event date is announced by the organizer. The dates are based on previous years. Iconic NY Photo Tour

Iconic NYC Photo Safari (P2) - Join us on this fast paced Photo Safari to explore some of New York City's most iconic buildings. Photograph *Times Square*, the *Chrysler building*, *Grand Central Terminal* and the *New York Public Library*. We'll show you the best vantage points to photograph these landmark buildings as you hone your photography skills. On this architectural photo tour you'll learn how to work with lines and angles to bring these buildings to life, as well as how to photograph architectural interiors and have a better understanding of white balance. In the end you'll take home iconic pictures of New York City that you'll be proud to share. World Trade Center NYC Photo Safari

World Trade Center Photo Safari** World Trade Center Photo Safari: Discover the magnificence of Lower Manhattan's newest landmarks while honing your architectural photography skills. The new World Trade Center is nearly complete and this safari is designed to remember the past while celebrating the future. This photo tour will explore WTC photo tourthe new Freedom Tower, the 9/11 Memorial, the Oculus and much more. You will learn both interior and exterior architectural photography and how to best capture the buildings' grandeur as well as their simplicity.

Composition is everything and this session will push you to understand lines and balance while capturing these amazing buildings. You'll learn how to employ strong composition to engage the viewer and give them a sense of space as well as learn how to anticipate lighting conditions and scene management as it relates to architecture. Learn how to take advantage of reflections and the play of light on different surfaces. We will also explore the use of over exposure to help create an ethereal feel. Rockefeller Center Photo Tour - Top of the Rock

NYC: the UPshot!: Chances are that you’ve visited Rockefeller Center before, perhaps many times, but never like this! On the UPshot safari you will see it from the ground and from one of the tallest buildings in NYC. You begin at St. Patrick's Cathedral with its magnificent Gothic architecture and then on to Rockefeller Center where you will photograph the beautiful Art Deco that makes the Center so unique. The Center is also the home of Radio City Music Hall and Rockefeller Plaza (location of the NYC Christmas tree). Towards the end of your Photo Safari, you will take a ride up 70 stories to the Top of the Rock, which offers the best above ground views of both the Empire State Building and Central Park. During the course of your safari you will also learn how to use lines and angles to turn mundane images into unique photography. This workshop will focus on composition skills at night as well as the issues related to taking pictures in low light conditions. Night photography is challenging, but we will help make sure the only raccoons in your photographs are of the four legged variety! On this photo tour you will get the opportunity to photograph some of the most filmed locations in Central Park and the skyline. Although a DSLR is preferred, you may use any digital camera with manual overrides; you MUST bring a tripod.
