DIY Photo Safari #6: Graffiti Mecca

Ever wish you had that perfectly “street” photo of New York City? The fire escape with a backdrop of some stunning street art? Well you will find all of this and more at 5 Pointz Aerosol Arts Center in Long Island City. This 200,000

square foot ex-factory space has been converted by developer Jerry Wolkoff into affordable studio space for artists and opened up all of its walls to some of the best graffiti artists in the world. Internationally known as a graffiti mecca, this space is open to the public year-round (weekdays by appointment and weekends after noon). Hurry up and visit as Wolkoff is due to demolish this historic site to make room for two residential buildings.
