DIY Photo Safari #16: Check Out The Gingerbread House Extravaganza at Le Parker Meridien

Why not spice things up during the holiday season with one of our photo safaris and gingerbread? Several big name bakeries and restaurants like Gramercy Tavern, Tu-Lu’s Gluten Free Bakery and the Cupcake Cafe will build over-the-top gingerbread-based masterpieces for display in the atrium of the Parker Meridien hotel for the "Gingerbread House Extravaganza" from December 1- January 3, 2012. A $1 ticket to the third annual holiday display will benefit City Harvest. While you’re there, check out the hot chocolate at Knave – it’s an ideal indulgence on a winter day and a great way to give a little back to the community while giving your sweet tooth, and camera, something to focus on. YUM!

While you're here, may we encourage you to go on an adventure? Take your treat on the road -- you're only a few blocks away from Central Park! Go for a walk -- enjoy the beauty surrounding you! For those of you who are hopeless romantics or simply want to take it up a notch, why not take horse-drawn carriage ride around the park? Or perhaps you'd like to take a spin around Wollman Rink on a pair of ice skates -- the venue allows you to bring your own but does provides rentals of skates and lockers. What's not to love about this? Here's a tip though -- make sure your camera's battery is charged; all batteries tend to drain faster in cold temperatures.
